Dough-shaping

My first foray into Blender 2.9 via the classic donut tutorial by Andrew Price. I’m learning Blender to better express the spaces and concepts I’ve designed for translation into the real world.

Shooting for Success

Using my Hawkeye project as a starting point, I was able to model a custom object by applying what I learned from my donut and room design, like modeling and custom textures. Being able to produce a new object from scratch without a tutorial was thrilling!

Curating Vibes

After learning the blender UI with my donut, I tried my hand at my ultimate end goal — modeling a physical space. This composition turned out to be mostly a lesson in lighting controls, and the struggle of finding models and linking textures.

I’m creatively inspired by so many things, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern being one of them. I often picture motion when thinking about my designs, and I was glad to finally put this one to paper (figuratively). I adore the papercut style book cover, and having all the tents and pieces fold out of each other made perfect sense for that medium, as well as referencing the magical nature of the circus to pop up anywhere overnight. This particular animation was a good refresher in layer organization and AfterEffects expressions.
